The Radiolaria lamp family is inspired by microscopic organisms and the phenomenon of bioluminescence: when the light is switched off, the Radiolaria leave a mysterious green afterglow. This glow-in-the-dark effect makes them perfect for use in bedrooms, especially your children’s rooms! Because of the variety in shapes, the Radiolaria are ideal to make your own combination of different lamps. Tentaculus minimus is the small species of the Tentaculus family, Tentaculus giganticus being the bigger variety.
How Its Made
The Radiolaria are sewn from pieces of a 3D-knitted technical textile. The glow-in-the-dark effect – similar to the effect which everybody knows from kids’ stickers and toys – has been integrated the seams. Thanks to the stiffness of the material and its 3D-structure, the soft lamps have natural volume and don’t require additional reinforcement. The force of gravity influences their final shape, making them charmingly imperfect. All locally made in bigger Amsterdam.
