Making porcelain tableware by hand is a very time-consuming process where skill is involved which can result in valuable products. For ones not familiar with the technique of slipcasting this is sometimes hard to understand. De Intuïtiefabriek found a way to give insight in this production process and its effect on final prices in their project SUM Porcelain Tableware Set.
How Its Made
‘SUM’ is a collection of porcelain in which every choice for detail, color and finish during the production process has a direct influence on the final result and price. ‘SUM’ sets of 4, mugs or espresso cups, are available in two different finishings and come in a range of blue or grey colors. The “raw finish” is a basic finish with a random flow of glazing on the outside of the cups.
